How to Tell if you have facial masking

If your face has darker areas around the outer edges of the face and lighter areas on the interior of your face you have facial masking. This condition is more prominent in women that have bronze or ebony skin tones.

It is very easy to correct facial masking, just use the following simple application techniques:

  1. Make sure to conduct a strip test across the cheek to the jaw to determine the two shades of foundations you will be using to correct the facial masking. You need one shade to brighten the darker areas and another shade to darken the lighter areas.
  2. Apply the lightest shade to the darker areas of your face and blend well.
  3. Apply the darkest shade to the lightest areas of your face and blend well.
  4. Finish with the face sculpting technique that is shown in the image above. Use two loose powders - one to match your natural color and one to highlight the “oval” on your face, including your forehead, under the eyes, on top of the cheekbones, and the tip of your chin. So basically, use the natural color powder where the dark streaks are on the image above and use the highlight powder where the white streaks are on the image.
